The Method To Our Madness
House of Shine programs work because they masterfully meet individuals where they are, not where we think they should be. This is accomplished by intentionally adjusting two of the most important variables considered when developing curriculum:
- how long the experience will last, and
- how intense the experience is.
Program Structure & Offerings
House of Shine programming can change lives by providing self-enabling experiences for women and children who simply don’t have access to such. House of Shine does not set out to teach by telling individuals what not to do. Programming teaches what to do. This simple philosophy makes all the difference. When children understand their strengths, they are more confident and more likely to engage in and outside the classroom to ultimately make positive choices for their future. When women understand their strengths, they are more confident and enabled to make informed, personal and professional decisions that lead to a more fulfilling life.
How We Measure Our Programs
The evaluation and assessment of House of Shine programming is ongoing and consistent. House of Shine understands that the needs of its target population are ever changing and the organization must be proactive in its efforts to remain relevant with those served. In that regard, evaluation will be continuous to promote activities that increase outcomes, program productivity, and quality.
In assessing the achievement of outcomes, House of Shine will utilize data-driven decision making. This type of quality improvement process uses data and relevant background information to inform decisions related to planning and implementation at all levels. In order for data to influence the implementation of the project and any necessary changes, House of Shine staff must continuously monitor progress and translate that information into service delivery. The important factors that will be considered in utilizing data-driven decision making are as follows:
- Activities and programming are linked to goals and objectives
- Measurement tools are embedded into the structure at correct intervals
- Staff are properly implementing the project
