What’s Your Shine: Heather Hankamer
In January, the House of Shine began a new program with Middle Year Programme students called, What’s your Shine?, held once a month during an advisory period at Westlake Academy. In our second session, held in February, the students were engaged by speaker Heather Hankamer.
Heather cleverly laid out facts about the talents and interests she’s discovered about herself throughout her lifetime, including memories from her childhood, her experience working at a video rental store, and informed the students of her preference to be the “boss”. After sharing her talents and interests with students, Heather had them guess her current job. Students guessed a CEO, an event planner, and a teacher before Heather shared with them that she is Director of TEDx SMU and is also the Assistant Director for Special Programs for SMU’s Lyle Engineering School.
