Building Brighter Futures: A Party with Purpose was held on Thursday, September 29th as a way to spread the word about House of Shine founded by Dr. Claudia K. Beeny of Westlake.
The organization’s mission is focused on developing confident, engaged women and children by providing leadership programs that raise self-awareness. Through its workshops, school curriculum and other children’s programs, House of Shine helps these women (from all stages of life) and children (from all walks of life) unearth their SHINE (Strengths, Hobbies, Interests, Needs, and Experiences). House of Shine is focused on igniting the power within and, ultimately, changing the world for the better.
The evening included music by Sarah Potenza, a 2015 finalist of The Voice and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the continued development of shine workshops and curriculum.
Tracy Rector, community volunteer and evening speaker, had this to say about the event, “House of Shine’s recent Party with Purpose gave me a chance to see first-hand the energy and enthusiasm behind the organization’s positive message of helping others be their best self. The community support of House of Shine is evident by seeing so many people come out to celebrate what Dr. Claudia Beeny and her team are doing for others. From hosting a camp for underserved teenage girls in an inner city school to teaching elementary age children how to spread happiness, Dr. Beeny’s amazing nonprofit is changing how we all see our purpose in this world.”
