Secrets to Family-Friendly Success with Sharon Vinderine, CEO of Parent Tested Parent Approved

Dr. Shine welcomed entrepreneur Sharon Vinderine, CEO of Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA), to discuss her journey and share insights on entrepreneurship and family life.

Sharon’s path to success began with overcoming shyness and gaining confidence in her teens. She pursued entrepreneurial ventures, including launching Canada’s first wireless internet company with her father. After having children, Sharon identified a need for trustworthy product recommendations for parents, leading to the creation of PTPA.

The discussion highlighted key entrepreneurial advice:

  1. Pursue ideas you’re passionate about to sustain motivation through challenges.
  2. Seek honest feedback beyond friends and family, and be open to constructive criticism.
  3. Ensure products are fairly priced relative to the market.
  4. Launch when a product is “perfectly imperfect” (about 85% ready) rather than waiting for perfection.
  5. Network actively to build relationships and form an informal board of advisors for guidance.

Sharon emphasized the importance of work-life balance and self-care. Her morning routine includes early rising, meditation using the Calm app, exercise, and avoiding phone checks until after meditation. She stressed the value of family time and creating lasting memories.

The conversation touched on online safety for children, with Sharon advocating for open communication, setting boundaries, and educating kids about potential risks. She emphasized teaching children to consider the permanence and public nature of online posts.

Throughout the interview, Sharon’s passion for entrepreneurship, family, and helping others shone through. Her journey from a shy child to a successful businesswoman and mentor serves as an inspiring example of the power of determination, adaptability, and continuous learning.
