Tomorrow I will tell you more about why we think Brooke shines as bright as she does. But, for today you'll have to settle for a short summary of a Shineworks project we presented to... Read More »
I wonder how many of you can relate to my love of pristine shoe boxes; perfectly shaped, all four corners still in tact, and with a lid that fits snuggly on top of the box. I reminded of my love of a good cardboard box, because we just took the boys shopping for summer shoes.
Ooooh, the possibilities…
So, how 'bout it?
This month we will use a shoebox as the focus of our Shineworks Project. Rules of play are easy:
Repurpose or reuse the box to spread shine in your corner of the world. The idea is one where creativity meets community.
You use your creativity to do something with the shoe box; paint it, cut it, fill it, stack it with other shoe boxes, or whatever else you can think of. In the end all we want is for it to be converted into something more than just an empty shoe box.
Then, present your creative treat to someone in your community who could benefit from a small-pick-me-up; a random act of kindness. Maybe it's someone you know, like friend, a neighbor, or a colleague.
Or, maybe it's someone who serves your community; a police officer, the mailman, or the coach of your child's swim team.
Or better still, maybe you decide to do a true random act of kindness and leave it in a public place for everyone to see or for one lucky person to receive. You decide.
There are countless ways to use the box to spread shine in your corner of the world. I can't wait to see what you decide to do with yours. In the meantime, tune in here throughout the month and I will share progress on my project.
The only rule? Complete your project by Sunday, June 30
