Yellow Envelope Project: Cincinnati
For those new to the scene, this is the day of the week we get down to the business of doing what the House of Shine does best. Saturday’s at the Houe of Shine are reserved for our Yellow Envelope Project. Readers from across the country nominate someone who radiates so much shine, he literally makes his corner of the world a brighter place.
We (you) agree to send the weekly winner a yellow envelope with an encouraging note inside. The note shouldn’t be long or elaborate. A simple, “Thank you for shining and making your corner of the world a brighter place” will do. The point is to spread shine by catching people in the act of doing something right.
This week’s recipeient was submitted by a fan/acquaintance of his. Here’s what she had to say:
“Tommy brings together incredibly creative people to introduce children to art in a nontraditional way, incorporating theatric fun and a lot of laughter. He makes great efforts to reach out to Cincinnati’s large underprivileged/disadvantaged population and he’s been going strong at this for the last 12 years. He left ownership of a corporate advertising company to invest his time and effort and money in Happen Inc. and solicits all kinds of donations. He’s a fantastic person.”
If value children being exposed to the arts in the same way I do and you respect Tommy’s decision to follow his passion rather than his big paycheck, then please join me in sending Tommy a short note in a yellow envelope. If you don’t have a yellow envelope, try a white one decorated with yellow markers. Place the words, “Yellow Envelope Project” in the return address and mail sometime before next Saturday. It’s that easy and I promise it will make you feel as good as it makes Tommy feel.Tommy
