Use today to laugh at Cheryl's baking debacle and oooh and ahhh at how she turned it around, then let us know when you've turned a mistake around to make it shine.

Great attempt Cheryl! I have a little trick for boxed cake mixes....are you ready???? Use juice instead of water. I usually use cranberry juice, and my cake customers RAVE about the taste. You can't really taste the cranberry in the cake, but there's a sweetness to it that is not overpowering at all. I like to use orange juice when I make cakes for little kids. Orange juice definitely makes the cake sweeter, but the citrus taste is very refreshing. The juice will take the "crumble" factor down a little and make the most moist cake ever. However, your mess up made a wonderful pot of golden goodness!

Here's another trick for chocolate boxed cake mixes. Use strong cold coffee instead of water, and add 1 tsp cinnamon. You can't taste the coffee or the cinnamon, but it makes the chocolate flavor really intense!

Now that I've given away all of my secrets, I need to get back to my cake making marathon weekend!

Cheryl, I just got done with my training and your post was the perfect end to the day! It was hilarious!

I love the cake balls rolled in yellow sprinkles.

I am one big baking/crafting debacle. I could go on an on about best laid plans going awry. In fact, today I tried to deliver cupcakes and balloons to Jack's classroom and it was on e MASSIVE debacle.

Cheryl's searching for her obliques and I'm searching for professionals who shine!

Kate! I love your tips, and I feel the urge to go buy a boxed cake mix right this minute and try it!

Does this work just as well for cupcakes? Can't imagine it would be any different.
