Here is a fun gift-wrapping idea for a graduation gift.  I have made a DVD of music, photos, and quotes for my friends for graduation.  I wrapped the DVD case in newspaper and painted it (the square top of the cap), bought $1 wooden squares and painted them (from Michael's for the bottom of the cap), and used shred as the tassel- tied it together and hot glued to the top.

Just a fun packaging idea if you're giving a square gift or anything that would fit in a square box!

That is adorable!  But I am simply not getting how you did the bottom with squares...

Maybe Katie can clarify.

In the meantime, it seems as though it could also work with an upside down, empty box or maybe a piece of a toilet paper roll, etc...

Robin,

I did not explain well.

Do you know that little wooden boxes that they sell at Michael's? They have them in heart shapes, circles, squares, jewelry boxes, etc? They're with the wooden items- bird houses, stools, etc. They are $1. So what I did was just take the lid off, paint the bottom part of the box, and then hot glued it to the bottom of the newspaper wrapped DVD case.

Does that make sense?

Yes!  Now I know what you mean.  I was just really trying to picture how you made wood circular. LOL  You're amazing, but everyone has their limits.  ;-)
