What time choices do you need to make so you can have what you really want this year?

I need to realize work is work and will always be here waiting. I need to do a better job to stop working and make time for the other things I love. This year I want to continue to volunteer every opportunity I can and I have a stack of baby quilts that need to be sewed.
As my mom used to say to me when I was younger and still she continues to say this "Jessie, just do it." That being said, I will be shutting down after my 8-9 hour day to do something I want to do that is NOT work.

I love today's post and it couldn't have come at a better time- for a lot of us, yes? This past weekend I set up a table in my living room that sits on canvas tarp that sits on a sheet of plastic. I broke out the few pieces I have from my workshop and painted. My goal is to have one finished piece for Jessie by next weekend. Oh my. I need to get busy. And, I'm working on another gift piece that needs to be finished by the end o fthe month.

I have become a workout-aholic over the past year. I gave up going out to lunch most Monday-Friday to exercise. I love when my trainer says, "Make it happen, Cheryl. You can do it." And most times I do. That last push up may not be pretty but I get it done. I need her to come home with me at night.

I can call out spelling words and paint. Right?

One thing I want out of life this year is to be in the moment and to not take for granted the relationships and opportunities I have. One way I have adjusted my "time" to help with this is that I began to adjust my schedule to allow me to leave 10 minutes early for any class, meeting, or meal I was having on campus. What I was finding is that I did not have the time to enjoy the walk around campus, did not have the time to make phone calls while I walked, did not have time to stop and chat with a friend that I would run into or to catch up with someone before a meeting started. By adding this extra 10 minutes to everything, it has allowed me to do this! It has allowed me to make more phone calls as I walk, has allowed me to enjoy a short conversation with someone instead of saying "sorry, I'm in a hurry, have to run!", and even when I don't run into someone or have a phone call to me, it allows me to take 5-10 min and just enjoy the walk instead of rushing around campus.

I don't know what to give up. I work really hard to maximize my time. I'll have to think about this because there is always room for improvement!
