59 Seconds: Day Five

Where in the world is Claudia today?

I was right!  Four days running.  Karlie, Holly, Peggy, and yesterday Katie!  Katie along with a few other readers guessed that yesterday I was journaling from Baskin Robbins.  Heather did the honors of drawing the winning name at last night's House of Shine meeting.  We even did a Google search to make sure Wilmington, North Carolina had a Baskin Robbins and found out they have not one but two!  Two Baskin Robbins and a beach.  Sounds like a slice of heaven, Katie.

Guess where I am for my for my final leg of the, Where-in-the-World-is-Claudia-Tour.  The winner receives a $10.00 gift card to that location.  Come on Molly, Lindsey, Stacie, Amy, or anyone else out there with a name ending in a long-e sound.  Let's make it a perfect run!

Today is the grand finale of Robin's five-day guest blogging stint at the House of Shine.  Using the work of Richard Wiseman, author of 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot, Robin is challenging us to increase our happiness quotient by participating in a five day journaling-cycle.  The beauty of the cycle is that you can repeat it any time you find yourself slipping into a slump.

I like the sound of that.  "Slipping into a slump."

Monday we journaled about something that was bothering us.  Tuesday we made notes about big and small things for which we are grateful.  Wednesday we closed our eyes and revisited a time when we shined and yesterday we wrote love notes to important people in our lives.

Now Friday - day five.

"Stop the negative self talk.  It’s way too easy to get mired down in what should be happening, but focus here on what is going right.  Write down one thing, even if it’s that your alarm went off on time and that you didn’t hit snooze.  Or that you didn’t get caught at the punishment light.  I found once I wrote something down, even something silly, it sort of snowballed.  I couldn’t help but smile as I got to the end of my list."

Please join me in the Community Forum section labeled, Today's Post for a few reasons.  First, let's thank Robin for a fun week of thoughtful journaling questions.  Second, tell us about at least one thing that went right for you this week.  And third, remember to post where in the world you think I am today.

Signing off until tomorrow when my vacation comes to an abrupt end.

59 Seconds: Day Four

Where in the world is Claudia today?

It isn't as glamorous as the Today Show's version of, Where in the World is Matt Lauer, but I am having fun doing my own globe trotting this week.  Monday, Karlie guessed I was at Starbucks.  Tuesday, Holly guessed I was at Chili's.  And, yesterday, Peggy guessed I was at Target.

Karlie, Holly, Peggy.  I see a trend developing here.  According to my calculations today's winner should be Katie, Misty, Lindsey (where are you), or Amy.

While I am globe trotting, Robin is holding things down at the House of Shine.  Today marks the fourth day of raising our happiness quotient by spending as little as 59 seconds journaling.  If you are just tuning in and want to catch up, click here:

Today's prompt is compliments of Robin, but is based on the work of Robert Wiseman, author of 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot.  Wiseman suggests that one way to feel happier is to, "Write a note to someone whom you love.  Tell them why you love them and why you’re grateful for them."  Robin adds that you should consider sending your note and reminds us that the entire act should feel reminiscent of our Yellow Envelope Project.

I agree on all accounts.

Join us in the Community Forum section labeled Today's Post and, at least, share to whom your note will be addressed.  You don't have to include us on all the mushy stuff if you don't want.  And don't forget to include your guess about where in the world I am journaling from this morning.  The winner gets a $10.00 gift certificate to that location.

Shining off until tomorrow...

59 Seconds: Day Three

Where in the world is Claudia today?

Round and round she goes, where she stops nobody knows.  Where am I today?

Karlie was the only one who guessed I was at Starbucks on Monday, but yesterday three observant people figured out I was at Chili's.  Peggy, Holly, and Karlie all guessed where I was, based solely on the restaurant's signature Mexican tiles.  Impressive, I know.  Congratulations, HOLLY for being the lucky name that Jack drew from my hat.

You might have no idea where I am today, but by now you should have some idea of what I am doing.   I am joining Robin in five days of journaling bliss.  Robin is guest blogger for the week and is using her time to share the work of Richard Wiseman, author of 59 Seconds: Think A Little, Share A Lot.  Wiseman advocates increasing your happiness quotient by engaging in a five-day journaling activity.  We are on Day Three.

Click here for Day Two's journal prompt and here for Day One's journal prompt.  Good.  Now you are all caught up.

Today's prompt, compliments of Robin, is: Write down something from your past where you shined.  A perfect day where everything went exactly the best it could have gone.  Reflecting on this perfect day is better than imagining the perfect future in terms of happiness.

Join us in the Community Forum labeled, Today's Post and share about a day when you shined.  And, don't forget to guess where I am.  Guess correctly and your name will go in a drawing for a $10.00 gift card from that location.

Shining off until tomorrow...
