Good-bye Fancy Flours Cookie Cutter Challenge Year #1. Hello Year #2!
Let's review.
29.75 pounds of flour, 48 sticks of butter, 2 dozen eggs, 43 cups of Confectioners sugar. Twelve batches of cookies packaged in 12 ways with 12 fun slogans, in celebration of 12 fun holidays.
Oh, and 10,080 calories!
That shines.
Each batch of cookies from last year's Challenge doesn't shine. Heck no tech no. In fact, some of them are so bad that they are actually scary (see the "Pencil Poinks I made for last month's National Pencil Day).
It shines because of Shine Principle #9.
Be Accountable - For twelve months straight we baked, decorated, packaged, and photographed cookies when some months it would have been easier to justify and rationalize why we couldn't afford the extra six, or so, hours it requires.
The Cookie Cutter Challenge symbolizes so many of the choices we make each day. Squeeze in time for exercise today or promise to start again tomorrow? Splurge on one more pair of shoes or stick to the budget you created after your last shopping spree? Use evening hours to make progress on a goal or sit in front of the t.v. and use commercial breaks to convince yourself that there is always tomorrow? Make time to bake the cookies as promised or skip a month sure that no one will even notice.
Sometimes the effort we make works and sometimes it doesn't. In the end, though, when we hold ourselves accountable we will
