Pretty in (Pale) Pink

Many of you might remember the picture of this Crepe Myrtle from a post I wrote about a year ago.
I used the pink tree as a way of symbolizing the impact people who Shine have on people around them. The vibrant blooms make the green trees even more beautiful, in the same way that people who Shine bring out the best in others.
But...

Texas has suffered from the worst drought in 44 years, so this year the tree did not receive the water it needed to be healthy. Consequently, this Crepe Myrtle is far less vibrant than it was just one year ago. And because it is less vibrant, the trees behind it look less lush too.
It is a sober reminder that we, too, can only Shine when we are getting what we need.
Shining off until...

I remember that Crepe Myrtle photo from last year. And looking at the original photo again- it almost looks like a heart.
My question is: What is it that we need to Shine? I'm sure, with all of our diversity and life experiences, it is different for everyone.

Great question, Cheryl.
For me to Shine, I need... time alone to think.

For me to SH!NE I need to be doing something for someone else... I have too much time alone to think and reflect, and then create doubt. Give me a little iced coffee, an idea or a challenge, then give me a moment and wait for it.... the little sparkles start showing up (yes possibly the ones only in my mind, to help with the visual affect of my point here) and then let me help you. However, nothing makes a person more productive than the last minute... maybe not for this particular project...but it is so true in many aspects of life.

I am an anticipation junkie so I need something to look forward to to Shine. Maybe an upcoming vacation, visitor from out of town, change at work, anything that allows me to count down the days to the next exciting thing.
