Which Ray? That is the question.
For more than three years Ray Wattson has served our community well. He has been our cheerleader (HooRay) and at times our good swift kick in the butt (StingRay).
We have shared numerous occasions with Ray including Christmas (Jingle all the Ray), Thanksgiving (Rayflower), Halloween (Raykenstein and Raycula), Valentines Day (AmoRay), St. Patrick's Day (Erin Go Bray), and the annual celebration of February 18 (AnniversaRay).
So spirited is this friend of ours that we even indulged him in holidays that people would only know about if they frequented the House of Shine or Brownielocks.com. His participation in National Ice Cream Month (Van Choc StrawberRay), May Day (Ray Day), and Elvis's Brithday (Shake Rattle and Ray) were among my favorite.
But this egotistical yellow light bulb, whose head is so big that he can't raise his hands above his head, has - at times - also supported the House of Shine. He has showed up for our 5k (5Ray), participated in our Annual Superbowl Throw Down (Frito Ray); cheered on Heather, Katie, and Cheryl in the Susan G. Komen Ray for Cure; and participates religiously in our monthly Highlowaha ritual (Rayflection).
He's worn a lot of hats over the past three and a half years, literally and figuratively - postman (Special DeliveRay); baker (BakeRay); magician (AbracadabRay); and cowboy (Yippee Ky Ray), to name a few.
And as hard as it is for Cheryl, Heather, and I to announce, it is finally time for Ray Wattson to move on from the House of Shine.
Ray has a new gig now. He will be working full time in elementary (or is it elementaRay) schools, helping children discover their Shine, through a program we developed along with him - What's Your Shine? He wanted to call it What's Your Shine, Dammit?, but the three of us ixnayed - actually ixRayed - the idea.
Don't get the wrong idea. We aren't kicking Ray out of the House of Shine overnight. His face will still appear in our banner for some time, though eventually it will disappear. He will not, however, be hanging out in our hallways and showing up in posts each month. Occasional visits aren't out of the question. He's a member of our family and hard to unplug.
Join me in the Comment Section to wish Ray well on his new venture.
Shining off until tomorrow...
