Loose Lips May Sink Ships

Sixteen days into our Celebration-a-Day and still going strong, thanks to a little help from our friends at www.brownielocks.com.

The first thing that came to mind when deciding to celebrate National Lip Appreciation Day was the post I wrote more than a year ago where I featured lip-shaped cookies. I shared them as a fun way to Spread Valen-Shine. Cute as they were, they are so February. Alas, as I am typing this it occurs to me they would be really cute iced in green and packaged with notes reading, "Kiss me, it's Saint Patty's Day."

It also occurs to me that maybe today was named Lips Appreciation Day, precisely because tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day. If our lips are really going to get the workout they deserve, then today they must be treated with some T.L.C.

How about preparing you pucker with the Honey Lip Scrub recipe shared below?

1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon of baking soda
a few drops of olive oil
Mix the honey and baking soda until a smooth paste is formed.
Apply the mixture on your lips and leave it on for a few minutes
then gently rub the lips to remove dead skin.
Wash your lips with water and apply olive oil on your lips to moisturize them.
Use 2 or 3 time a week if your lips tend to be very dry and flaky.

Once your lips are soft and supple then how about some lipstick? And if you are a grown woman like me and never learned how to apply lipstick, then consider taking a few minutes to watch the video below:

Lipstick & Lips:
How To Apply Lipstick

But, more than anything else, I thought it would be really fun to celebrate Lips Appreciation Day by titling today's post, Loose Lips Sink Ships. Visit us in the comment section and to share a secret you are dying to tell. While we are friends, the fun of the idea is that our lives are not so intertwined that you will run the risk of breaking someone's confidence. And since WWII - the origin of the slogan "Loose Lips May Sink Ships"  - is over, we also don't have to worry about tipping off the enemy.

Visit us in the Comment Section and share a secret. It could be your own or someone else's. Either way, you secret is safe with us.

Shining off until tomorrow, but right now I'm off to the comment section where I am dying to share my secret...

My friend's wife is leaving him and their three children (11, 7 and 7) because she "can't take it anymore". She told ME, not him! Grrrrr...

A family I know is planning to move to Dallas and, until things are finalized, I have been sworn to secrecy. Their families and kids don't even know.

I didn't get to watch the video yet... but did you know when you brush your teeth
    A. Brush your tongue ... helps reduce odors
    B. Brush your lips with your toothbrush, it helps to exfoliate as well

Secrets: when is it a secret or gossip? I hate it when someone asks can you keep a secret? I often say no... I don't want that burden.

But I'm no longer friends with this person.... she told me all about her sister (who was/is in her late 30's) she stole money, forged checks from their mom... who had the onset of altzheimers.... my former friend had her sister arrested... plus the sister was caught in possesion of drugs and other stolen goods.... my friend was from a 'good' family that probably had too much money ... some kids went the right way, some strayed... and the parents always enabled the lost souls and helped them out of trouble... and now that pattern continues. The sister spent months in a local jail... where she seemed to learn more tricks of how to forge and steal and take advantage of her sisters, brother, their mother and the government. It was a mess, but would make for a good movie of the week!

    Me... I got nothing!

Not really a secret but rather a confession...I LOVE COOKIES! They are my sweet weakness.

Welcome Sharon...glad you joined us in sharing secrets. We hope you stay around for a while.

Molly...I fear that I was the cause of yesterday's tears. I certainly shed a few myself.

Misty...I'll join you in that confession.

    This is somewhat cathartic.

A Mom's forum I belong to used to do "Flame Free Friday Confessions" and everyone could share their secrets without fear of being "flamed" or chastised for what they said.

It is kind of neat confessing things and knowing not too many people in real life will know the secret.

I on the other hand basically know ALL of you in real life and am fairly interwoven in your lives so I can't share the really JUICY gossip.

    Secrets? Hmmm....

I hired a student that I've built a mentor/mentee relationship with this year for my staff next year, but she hasn't received her official offer letter yet so I still have to keep it a secret from her! Thank goodness it's Spring Break and she's gone home!
