Welcome to the Fun Zone

Greetings Shiners! Cheryl here, welcoming you to another Free For All Friday. Now, you might think that since Monday is Valentine's Day and 2011 is the Year of Love that today's post would be something about hearts and flowers and everything Valentine's Day. But, it's not.

Not that I don't encourage you to have a weekend full of love and adoration for your family and friends. I do! I do! Don't let the over commericialization of Valentine's Day get on your nerves. If the hiked up prices at restaurants and flower shops is beating you down, then take a deep breath, look at all that surrounds and know that you are loved. Keep it simple. Keep it heartfelt.

Okay- but let's get on today's topic. I know that we have all named our year and we have our big goal as our focus but do you know what I think we need? We need a silly list of some unattainable, some maybe not attainable fun little goals. I like to call it my Fun Zone List.

I'll start with 10 of my own (even though I have many more on my list):

1. Go on a weekend road trip travelling through small Texas towns recording the trip through writing and photography. Have no reservations and no plan other than a map.

2. Play the French Horn again.

3. Hold a plank hold for 3 minutes.

4. Solve the Rubik's Cube. I can solve the Rubik's Cube! Now work on solving it under 2 minutes. (Which I might point out is really slow! A kid solved it in 6.87 seconds.)

5. Learn sign language.

6. Hang out with Jimmy Buffet on the beach and have a sing a long.

7. Be able to hit the dart bull's eye 3 out of 5 tries.

8. Start every first day at the pool with a canon ball.

9. Paint a minimum of 12 paintings a year.

10. Smile at everyone I meet.

It's not exactly a bucket list. It can be updated and changed whenever a silly, fun thought runs through your head.

Tell me what you will have on your Fun Zone List! Or, if you need some help on a Free For All Topic, let us know. We'd love to help.

One more thing- don't forget that tomorrow is the Yellow Envelope Project. Don't forget to tune in and see who the latest nominee is!

Now- signing off until tomorrow...

I can only assume the reason there haven't been a million posts this morning is because, like me, all of you are mulling over what would be on your Fun Zone list.

I need to ponder this. I already know that one of mine would be to go to the makeup counter of a department store and get one of the saleswomen to teach me how to wear eye makeup. I have never known and I don't own a stitch of eye shadow, etc...

    More on my list later.

Ooh! I like that one Claudia.

I originally saw the FunZone list on a Match.com profile. He had completely random items on his list and it made me laugh and want my own.

It can take some time to perfect a silly list of stuff you want to do but I think when life gets heavy won't it be great to take the list out and say, "Let's work on this today."

Happy Friday! It's a busy day here at my desk. Hope everyone has a great day.

Peggy- your comment made me think of something I read recently...

The question was: What will happen when all my wishes come true and there is nothing left to yearn for?

The answer was: You will turn your gaze to the wishes of others.

I still have a lot of my own wishes to fulfill but I love the thought of this. :)

Ok, I have thought about it a little bit more and here are some of my others:

Send a message in a bottle

Photograph the neighborhood where I grew up

    Run a book club

I'm still working on my list. This has been fun to think about. Thanks for the prompt, Cheryl.
