Yesterday was Wednesday - the day I attend my weekly Rotary meeting. I love my involvement in Rotary for many reasons, but one is because each week, when the meeting convenes, members of the club recite our Four Way Pledge.
The Pledge is based on principles and ideals of the club. The four simple questions serve as a moral compass, encouraging members to evaluate their actions based on principles of the organization. See what you think:
Rotary Four Way Test. Of the things we think, say, or do: (1) Is it the truth? (2) Is it fair to all concerned? (3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? and, (4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
It's got me thinking.
The House of Shine has a set of principles, outlined in our Manifesto, and I dare say we probably even share an ideal or two.
What would a Four Way Test look like for our community? Here's my early morning crack at it:
House of Shine Four Way Test. Of the things we think, say, or do: (1) Is it the optimal use of my talents? (2) Is my work of the highest quality? (3) Will it improve my corner of the world? and, (4) Will it help power the planet with shine?
Visit us in the Community Forum labeled, Today's Post and tell me two things. First, what would you add or how might you change what I've written? Second, what ideas do have for how we could use such a thing?
Shining off until tomorrow...
