I liked Halloween as a kid.
I love it as an adult.
As a kid, I dressed up in a costume, went out with friends, and hoped to receive handfuls of candy.
As an adult, I dress down - in my most casual clothing, stay at home with friends, and make treats we can give away to unsuspecting people around the country.
My Twentieth Annual Random Acts of Kindness Party, hosted Saturday night, was the perfect reminder of why it is so much better to give than it is to receive.
Here is my recipe for fun:
Treats

Treats

Treats

And still more treats.

Combine with mailing boxes

Packaging supplies

And still more packaging supplies.

Mix well.
Recipe will make not one,

not two,

not even just three, or four care packages.

This group of friends cooked up close to 30 boxes filled with Halloween Cheer; boxes that, today, were mailed to unsuspecting people around the country.

As a kid, I liked unwrapping my Halloween treats and digging in. I suspect our recipients will too.
As an adult, I love that the memories from Saturday night are just as sweet, but will last forever.
