March Madness Kickoff

You know what I love?

I love using designer packaging tape instead of the plain clear stuff that Scotch makes.  The red, green, brown, yellow, and blue patterns turn a thoughtful care package into a box that shines.

I love that for $10.00 you can purchase a combination lock for your favorite pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream.  It makes the perfect gift for the ice cream lover in your life.

And, I love that Sam's sells a case of 24 frozen pizza dough balls for $20.00.  Thaw a ball out in the morning of a busy weekday and serve homemade pizzas or calzones for dinner.  This winning recipe has saved our family many a night.

Love, love, love them all.

Do you have a favorite from 2009?

Join the House of Shine as we kick off our own version of March Madness.  Watch as four teams face-off in a Tournament of Ideas.  Beginning Monday, March 22- Thursday March 25, each team is given one day to feature their winning idea from 2009. Friday, March 26, House of Shine readers will vote on which of the four ideas they liked best.  The team receiving the most votes wins a group prize.

Think the fun stops there?

Think again.

Heather, Cheryl, and I only drafted half the teams!  Last year's reigning champions from California are back to defend their title and their up against a team of military moms from Fort Hood, TX.  Needless to say, these military moms are ready to fight.  Louisville, Naperville, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Arkansas, and North Carolina... we know you're out there.  The question is, are you up for the challenge?

Tournament rules are easy.  Gather you and three or four of your friends for coffee, lunch, or another occasion of your choice.  Ask each person to bring one idea, product, service, or title from 2009 that they could not live without.  Share ideas with one another, deciding which is the most formidable competitor against ideas from the other three teams.  Take a team photo, laugh, and ponder why it took such an event to get you together to begin with.  Agree it was fun, make plans to do it again next year, submit your idea and photo to us no later than Friday, March 19, and then sit back to watch the votes roll in.

Don't be a bench warmer, recruit your team now.  We'll be waiting to in the Community Forum labeled Today's Post to see who has got the competitive spirit.

The ball is in your court.

Shining off until tomorrow...
