Psst... It's That Time

Despite the long list of things that must be done today, tomorrow, and in the future, we resist the hustle and bustle of this day - the eighteenth day of the month - so that we may participate in a little reflection.

This time honored tradition at the House of Shine is intentionally simple.  We want anyone - veteran readers and newcomers alike - to feel free and able to join in at any time.  No prior experience necessary.

I simply set the framework for reflection and then invite you into the Community Forum labeled, Today's Post to share with the rest of us.

The framework is this: High: What is the best thing(s) that has happened to you in the past month; Low: What is the worst thing(s) that has happened to you in the last month; and Aha: What is something you have learned in the last month?

I'll go first.

High: Lots of highs this month.  We have had INCREDIBLE weather and I love fall; I had a very nice birthday surrounded by lots of people I love and who love me; Boo-ing houses with Matthew and Jack; My parents coming to visit; new staff joining the House of Shine team; dinner with old friends; two fun getaway weekends; and buying a new piece of art for our home.

Low: Friends who are hurting; my neck (I spent Saturday in the emergency room)!; and knowing that my parents are aging.

Aha: In the past month I have learned that my prior experiences and my interests intersect in some interesting ways.  I am doing a presentation later this week for a friend who is president of a large Moms Club.  The topic for the presentation is on the importance of developing family traditions and rituals.  It has been a very interesting (and validating) process to see how my experience in higher education can be woven into the content so beautifully.  I love it.  I want to take my show on the road!

Your turn.  You see how easy it is.  Simply go the the Community Forum labeled, Today's Post and share with this very special community your high, low, and aha for the past month.  We would love to hear from you.

Shining off until tomorrow...
