Drive Thru

Sometimes shine comes to you through the window of a drive thru.

Yesterday we took the boys to dinner at Wendy's (Wednesday is otherwise known as, "Wendy's" in my house).  We try limiting the amount of junk food they eat, so if we we indulge it is only a Wednesday and it is usually at Wendy's.

The Kids Meal treat was a sampling of a game called, "Now What?"

If you liked our discussions from National Keep Kids Creative Week, then listen up.  You will love this.

The game comes with Story Cards and Random Item Cards.  The idea is to pull a Story Card and to read a strange situation.  Then, one at a time, each player takes 3 Random Item Cards and must use all 3 items in their senseless solution to the story.  The person with the funniest solution wins.

This game earns my Shine Seal of Approval.  It's simple, requires no batteries, and fosters creativity.  You can play in a group or by yourself; driving on a long road trip or sitting at the kitchen table; with young kids, teenagers, or grown adults.  The game "Now What?" has little something for everyone.

So, now what?

Let's play.  Here's the Story Card:

"You're ready to walk out the door to catch a plane.  In your rush, you knock over a bowl filled with glass marbles, and they scatter across the tile floor.  You can't leave them there, but you certainly don't have time to pick them up individually."

Finish the story using these three Random Item Cards:

Spray Cheese

AM Radio

Bullhorn

Visit us in the Community Forum labeled, Today's Post and tell us your senseless solution to this story.  Also consider asking your office mates to take a crack at the story over lunch or your kids over dinner.

Shining off until tomorrow...
