I know, you expect an address today for the recipient of this week's Yellow Envelope Project.
Not this week.
This week we have two other items of business.
First, a thank you to Karlie who has been a loyal reader for about a year now. A few weekends ago Karlie hosted a "Create Together" event at her house. Newcomers will be interested in knowing that, "Create Together" is an initiative unique to the House of Shine. The mission? Support our goal of powering the planet with SHINE, by helping us raise money to tell 1,000,000 people they shine. Each person whose mailbox we flood costs us $20.00.
The only requirement for hosting a "Create Together" event is that you must in, some way, combine food, friends, and funds. Gather friends for any event, serve good food, and find a way to turn your event into a fundraiser. The amount raised is far less important than your commitment to hosting something that helps keep our Rayvolution going. That is for sure!
Karlie got creative. She invited friends over to play Mexican Train and encouraged participants to pay $2.00 per round. In keeping with the spirit of "Create Together," Karlie served a Mexican lunch, chips and salsa, and margaritas. I might also add that she had fun, fun, fun treat bags for the winners of each round (of which I was one!). In the end, Karlie raised $42.00 which means that we are only $18.00 short of thanking three more people for powering the planet with shine.
Three more people. That is item number two.
Our entire Yellow Envelope Project is only as good as the nominations rolling in each week. The planet is not short of people who shine...of that I am certain! No, the world is short of people who will to take ten or fifteen minutes to stop what they are doing and to nominate someone.
I get it. There are phone calls to return, emails to reply to, lists to make, items to cross off, kids to pick up, lunches to pack, work in your inbox, mail to sort through, and the list goes on. With so much to do and so little time, there is little incentive to take on one more thing.
Unless of course you consider that ten minutes of your time might mean someone in your corner of the world receives 30, 40, 50 anonymous letters of gratitude letting them know that their contribution on this planet matters. And, that your nominee is so overwhelmed by all the letters of support that she decides to shine even more and even brighter in her corner of the world. And, bystanders notice her radiating and decide that they also want to live a life of passion and energy. And, they use her as in inspiration for how to shine in their own corners of the world. And, now there are more deserving people to be nominated for the Yellow Envelope Project.
Wouldn't you gladly let one phone call go unanswered for results like that?
Let's make a deal. This week, instead of writing a letter of gratitude, click here and nominate someone for the Yellow Envelope Project.
Shining off until tomorrow...
