5Ray: Day Four

Today is Day #4 of the House of Shine's 5Ray and I am starting to wonder... am I running alone or am I just leaving all of you in the dust?

Fact.  Running 3.1 miles is far easier than completing a 5Ray, where the goal is to spread shine for five consecutive days.

Running requires a little bit of time, some stamina, and a pair of Nikes.  And, running is me-centered; run and you become healthier.  Spreading shine, on the other hand, requires time you probably don't have, energy you could be devoting to more pressing things, and a "Just Do It" attitude.  And, spreading shine is others-centered; spread shine and you must have faith the world will become a brighter place.

Yes, 5ks are for recreational athletes whereas 5Rays are for elite athletes

For spectators considering whether or not to join us for the last legs of the race, a quick recap.  Tuesday we drew two random words ("brown bag" and "grocery store").  Participants were challenged to combine the words in order to create shine in their corners of the world.  Wednesday, we drew two more words ("post-it note" and "coffee shop"), and still two more words on Thursday ("coupon" and "mailbox").

I decided to think outside the box for yesterday's challenge and to create my own "coupon."  It just so happens the person for whom this coupon was created lives far enough away that to deliver it, I had to put a stamp on it and place it in a "mailbox."  I don't want to ruin her surprise, but trust me when I tell you, that redeeming this coupon is GUARANTEED TO SPREAD SOME SHINE!

Two days left and six mystery cards from which to draw.  Drumroll.  And the winning combination for Friday, June 4 is....

It's not too late to join the 5Ray.

Click here and get the hardest part done, by printing a copy of the Shine Manifesto.  Then the only thing left to do is find the perfect car and the perfect circumstances under which to leave it.

You will be proud of yourself after following through, so feel free to visit us in the Community Forum labeled, 5Ray Day Four, and tell us all about your experience.

Rev your engines.

Shining off until tomorrow...
