If you tuned in yesterday then you know that the answer is, "No. Of course we aren't going to stop there." We think that part of shining means pushing the envelope on what is possible.
Tuesday we celebrated our annual visit to the Dine by Design extravaganza in Colleyville, Texas. Six hundred women in one banquet hall with 80 of the most creatively decorated dinner tables you ever did see.
Wednesday we shared our success in getting two House of Shine readers to host a Single-Serving Dine by Design event in their homes last summer. Our hypothesis was that, if an idea really shines, it will work regardless of size or scale. And besides, if 600 women could have that much fun in one room and on one night, then couldn't we try seeing what would happen if we spread that shine to living rooms and dining rooms all across the country?
The idea for our Single-Serving Dine by Design event was us pushing the envelope for the first time.
Then we told you of our second twist - Dine by Design turned fundraiser. Both of last summer's hosts agreed to put on their thinking caps and develop a way to turn their Single Serving Dine by Design event into a fundraiser. The proceeds, totaling more than $300.00, allowed the House of Shine to sponsor Thanksgiving dinners for families in need.
That was us pushing the envelope for the second time.
This is us pushing the envelope for the third time....

Join the House of Shine in launching, Create Together, our vision for spreading Shine through the celebration of food, friends, and creativity.
Participating is easy. Combine food, friends, and creativity in a single fundraising event to help us tell another person that they shine. Remember, every time we raise $20.00 we can present our signature Shine shirt to another deserving person.
I thought I'd give our idea a whirl.
May is host to two important occasions: National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day and the Cookie Monster's Birthday. I mustered up all the fun women I know (friends) to bake me batches of chocolate chip cookies (food) and then wrapped them in cellophane bags with pretty ribbons and a fun notecard (creativity).
Combine them together and what did I get? A Cookie Monster Chocolate Chip Cookie Bake Sale - of which all the proceeds go directly toward spreading our Shine Rayvolution. One t-shirt at a time.
I could tell you how much we raised or I could wait until tomorrow and use the rest of today to help get your wheels turning on fun ways you might combine friends, food, and creativity. Here are some fun upcoming holidays: June is host to International Surf Music Month, Women's Golf Month, Superman Week (10-13), and Corn on the Cob Day (June 11). July is host to Blueberries Month, National Grilling Month, National Ice Cream Month, Chocolate Day (July 17), and oh... Nude Recreation Week (5-11).
Visit our Community Forum labeled, Today's Post and tell us how you could use an upcoming event to combine friends, food, and creativity. Come on, let's Create (some shine) Together. Or click on Contact Us and tell us what date you have scheduled your Create Together event. We will add it to our master calendar.
Shining off until tomorrow...
